HCR-7000-WL Concentration by Titration - Calculator Instructions

  1. Add 2 mL of HCR into a flask. If different, record the value in the value field of Volume of HCR Sample (mL).

  2. Measure density of HCR and record the value in the value field of Density of HCR (g/mL)

  3. Add 20 mL of distilled water into the flask

  4. Add 5 drops of pH indicator (typically methyl orange or phenolphthalein) into the flask

  5. Swirl contents of flask

  6. Fill a syringe with 10 mL of 1 mol/L NaOH solution. If concentration of NaOH is different then input the actual concentration in the value field of Concentration of NaOH

  7. Slowly add the NaOH dropwise to the flask while continuously swirling using a burette or syringe until a permanent color change is observed.

  8. Record the volume of NaOH used in the value field of Volume of NaOH (mL)

  9. The calculated value in % HCR is the estimated concentration of the HCR sample.
