Field Concentration Calculator

= Volume of HCR Sample (mL)

= Density of HCR (g/mL)

= Volume of NaOH (mL)

= Concentration of NaOH (mol/L)

HCR-7000-WL Concentration by Titration - Calculator Instructions

  1. Add 2 mL of HCR into a flask. If different, record the value in the value field of Volume of NaOH (mL)

  2. Measure density of HCR and record the value in the value field of Density of HCR (g/mL)

  3. Add 20 mL of distilled water into the flask

  4. Add 5 drops of pH indicator (typically methyl orange or phenolphthalein) into the flask

  5. Swirl contents of flask

  6. Fill a syringe with 10 mL of 1 mol/L NaOH solution. If concentration of NaOH is different then input the actual concentration in the value field of % HCR

  7. Slowly add the NaOH dropwise to the flask while continuously swirling using a burette or syringe until a permanent color change is observed.

  8. Record the volume of NaOH used in the value field of Concentration of NaOH (mol/L)

  9. The calculated value in % HCR is the estimated concentration of the HCR sample.
